Dating back to 1928 when John Twohy II founded Commonwealth Sand and Gravel Corporation, Capital Concrete has been a family owned and operated business for several generations. In 1995 Elizabeth "Boo" Twohy took over as president with her sister Helen Whittemore serving as Vice President, continuing the legacy of quality and hard work of their parents, John and Peggy Twohy. Capital Concrete has since grown from a small operation in Richmond, Virginia, to become one of the leading ready mix providers in the South Hampton Roads Area with five plants conveniently located and a fleet of 50 trucks.
